Corporate america ruins people.
It simply crushes the creative types.
I was working in a corporate environment with a real piece of work for a boss for approximately 5 months over the last year.
While I was still growing my businesses while working there, my major focus was growing the company I am referring to.
While I am extremely proud of what our team accomplished there, I take a look at who I became in a short period of time and it disgusted me.
Within 3 months I had put on about 30 pounds and was completely grey and sick looking,
By the end of my tenure I was completely obese, and had probably lost about a year off my life.
There is nothing wrong with buckling down and working 14-16 hour days 7 days a week for a period of time.
That’s the way great shit gets built.
However, the stifling, rigid, non-expressive nature of working within a corporate structure is what makes people sick.
Creative human beings are not meant to operate within the rigid confines of a corporate job, jail, or school system.
Eating shit sandwiches daily from your manager, kissing asses of your superiors, biting your tongue with your co-workers to be diplomatic is not a way to live.
It gives people ulcers.
Living in a dreary, repetitive, stifling environment is what is going to to kill you.
The uncertainty and risk of being an artist or entrepreneur is worth dying for if you are a creative type.
My best suggestion to those stuck in the corporate grind is this… moonlight and figure out entrepreneurship in your spare time. Grind it the fuck out until you can learn the core fundamentals of business…
Try to add more value to your company and leverage it as a way to buy your time back and freedom of movement.
Do whatever you can to leave that job.
The greatest risk in life is not taking any risks. If you stay at that job it will erode your soul. You will emotionally, physically, and spiritually die there.
You will look back when you are 50, and wish you had taken the chance on yourself.
